CUA English Department Home Page

English is knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning of words, rules of composition, and grammar. The major in the Department of English focuses on the study of literature as the focal point of a liberal education.

CUA's English Department focuses on writing, learning, language and thought, as well as composition and rhetoric. Students work towards developing a differentiated sense of literary history, a discriminating sense of literary value, and a sophisticated understanding of the cultural and social roles of literature.
