CUA History Department Home Page

The history major seeks to understand why society and its people are the way they are and how this might affect the future. The process of studying history involves learning to read and think critically, to identify and analyze problems, to conduct research and to write clearly and persuasively.

Studying history at CUA combines learning the what of the discipline with the how, and the exhilarating process of discovering how we come to know what we know. Students gain not only knowledge of the past and major transformations in society but also perspectives on the present and how to understand themselves in time and space.
