Job Title: Day Camp Counselor

Job Description: The primary responsibility of the day camp ministry team is to operate a Christian day camp for approximately 30-35 children ages 5-10 who live in low-income communities. The day camp is located “off-site”, typically at a local school and not at the location where the mission teams and summer ministry team are housed. Our counselors are given the opportunity to truly understand what it means to be a part of something special. Our camp is structured around thrilling activities and stunning facilities, but what sets us apart is our palpable camp culture and spirit that is embodied in the incredible people whom we hire every year. General Counselors and Specialist Counselors are expected to live in a bunk with three to four other counselors and a set group of campers for the 7-week summer session in addition to a 1-week orientation session prior to the campers’ arrival on June 23rd, 2018. General Counselors spend their days looking after their campers while also taking them to their scheduled activities which encompass a variety of sports, arts, adventure, and waterfront activities. Specialist Counselors have similar responsibilities, with the exception being that for most or all of the daily schedule (approximately 10:00 am until 5:00 pm- lunch and breaks included) they are expected to be at their specialty area (baseball field, arts and crafts building, lake front, etc.) to teach and coach their specialty to a variety of camper groups that will rotate through on a schedule similar to high school classes. All counselors receive a salary to be paid at the end of the summer session, along with room and board for their entire 8-week stay at camp. Travel bonuses are negotiable based on expenses in coming to camp.
